We are searching for a high-quality Legal Counsel to join the Manchester office of our market-leading client. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal, you will be given ‘hands on’ experience across a wide range of practice areas.
You will be given the chance to draft and negotiate contracts involving data, software, IT, telecommunications and related services and undertake research and advise on diverse areas such as data protection, competition, procurement, intellectual property, confidentiality and energy regulation.
You will take responsibility for your own matters, as well as work closely with our Senior Legal Counsel on high profile and strategic work. You will interact with stakeholders at every level of the organisation. The client is a member of a wider multi-national group company and you will have the opportunity to raise your profile and grow your career in the wider organisation.
You will be a versatile commercial lawyer, keen to turn your hand to different areas of law with a collaborative approach to working as part of a team and the ability to build strong relationships with senior business colleagues.
You will have received training at a regional or London firm recognised for its Commercial work. You will be familiar with, or at least have a strong desire to specialise in, technology law and be confident in the drafting and negotiation of complex, large scale contracts. Some in-house experience, whether through secondment experience or otherwise, would be an advantage but is not essential.
Given the nature and level of the work, the role may appeal to high quality Projects lawyers looking to make their first move in-house and into a different type of role.
The work we do is of national importance and is often ‘cutting edge’, meaning the organisation’s lawyers need the ability to think strategically and commercially in areas where the ‘answers’ are not always obvious.
Your ability and personality is more important to us than your qualification level but, as a guide, the successful candidate is likely to have 2-5 years’ PQE behind him/her.
