So, Jacob, welcome to CapeClarke! How have you found your first couple of weeks?
Thanks you very much! The first couple of weeks have been fantastic. In December I started in the Leeds office to go through the systems training and to get somewhat up to speed to ensure a smooth start to 2019. In the brief time time I’ve been with CapeClarke I have had a chance to get to know my colleagues and thankfully everyone is very much on my wavelength and I am excited to see what this year brings!
Do you want to tell us a little bit about your background?
I come from a rural background in a village outside Barnoldswick in Lancashire. As a family, we have a smallholding where we keep livestock such as: horses, sheep, pigs, ducks, chickens, goats and our two emus (Fred and Wilma). Not forgetting of course my fur baby, Hetty, my Patterdale Terrier. From childhood, my siblings and I enjoyed a number of equestrian pursuits such as Eventing, Showjumping, Gymkhana and Tetrathlon of which we competed at national level. I was a member of the Open Boys team that won the Tetrathlon Championships representing Northern England.
Furthermore, I am a 2016 graduate in Business Management with Marketing from Harper Adams University where I achieved the highest overall grade on my course and received the Lloyds Bank award. After University, I joined Robert Half International, placing finance professionals across the West Yorkshire region. My tenure at Robert Half gained me promotions from Associate to Consultant and again to Senior Consultant.
What attracted you to moving into Legal Recruitment?
Well, although my family have a smallholding, we all have proper jobs! My father, stepmother and stepfather are all senior partners in a Lancashire based Law firm. I also have an uncle who is a barrister and another who is a partner and head of litigation of a law firm in West Yorkshire. Safe to say, there is a lot of legal chatter at our dinner table! Having been exposed to the legal sector for many years, applying this to my knowledge and experience in recruitment seemed a logical next step for me.

What is your favourite film?
Pulp Fiction! End of.
What is your favourite album?
As you know, I am a huge music fan! Narrowing this down is tough, but drop me on a desert island with only one album to choose from and it would have to be Alice in Chains – The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.
What is your favourite meal?
BEEF. Locally sourced (or even one of our own) fillet steaks with chips, cooked tomatoes and veggies.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
Although most like a beach holiday, I am a huge fan of skiing. My favourite destination would have to be Alpe D’Huez or Val Thorens.
Finally, the old classic… if you could invite five people, dead or alive, to a dinner party, who would they be?
