With July fast-approaching, an unexpected anniversary awaits me – exactly 9 years ago, I took my first paralegal job and ventured forth into the legal world. This was the first step in what would turn out to be a very enjoyable and eye-opening journey to qualification.
Looking back on that time, it’s incredible to see how much things have changed today, in 2018. From the very nature of a paralegal’s role to his/her chances of progressing their legal career, now more than ever, the market is intricate and daunting.
Here are 5 reasons why you should be speaking to a Consultant at CapeClarke:
JOBS JOBS JOBS – When was the last time you updated your search on an online jobs-finder? If it was anything less than 15 minutes ago, you’ll likely be inundated with a huge number of roles – which, it turns out, aren’t new at all. A dedicated consultant can help you “sort the wheat from the chaff” and will only let you know of new roles relevant to your career ambitions.
VARIETY – Here at CapeClarke, we have helped recruit paralegals into a wide variety of different teams: from large international firms to more traditional, single-site operated practices. Whether you’re looking to experience the fast paced nature of large Litigation caseloads or the more considered, technical focus of Medical Negligence, we’ve got you covered.
WE’VE BEEN THERE: What I didn’t mention in my introduction was that I was in fact placed in that first Paralegal role by a Consultant and ended up being offered a Training Contract and qualifying there. We’ve been in your shoes and we can relate – more importantly, we can give you good advice because we’ve been there before.
IT’S NOT JUST ANOTHER JOB – To us, a Paralegal role isn’t just “another Paralegal role” – it’s often the first step in someone’s journey to qualification and, as such, is a crucial part of a lawyer’s career. We recognise this, the importance it holds for our candidates and act accordingly.
MONEY MONEY MONEY – You may very well be successful in being offered a paralegal position. Congratulations but….WAIT! How good an offer is it really? Does it adequately reflect market-rate salaries? Are the chances of your progressing as good here as they are at other practices? To make an informed decision, you will need to refer to someone who has detailed overall knowledge of the Paralegal market. Enter CapeClarke…
