Ah, the age old idea of the recruiter being nothing more than a middleman!
Unfortunately, there are some rather mediocre legal recruiters out there who don’t really act for firms and do nothing other than cold call and try to entice a solicitor to move and then speculatively send their CVs around the market. Those recruiters do nothing to contradict the first line of this blog.
However, if you pick the right legal recruiter, that relationship is worth its weight in gold. A good legal recruiter knows the market, and the firms within it, inside out. He or she will know the personalities or culture of the firm and be able to provide a honest appraisal of your options and where the best fit might be found.
We believe that a legal recruiter shouldn’t be too focused on simply trying to make the placement…the legal recruiter should act as a career advisor. That is what we are at CapeClarke. We believe that you should be given the best advice possible. We are proud to have advised many solicitors, including hundreds of trainee solicitors and NQs, about how to navigate various stages of their legal careers. In some cases, as can be attested to by our testimonials page, we have advised people to stay where they are if we genuinely believe that is the right option for them!
If moving is the right thing for you, we are perfectly placed to provide you with everything you need to make the move, including:
